Caro's sound installation, 'Call and Response', opens in the stunning gardens of Nathan Homestead in Auckland, New Zealand. With bird song recorded both in Auckland and on Salisbury Plain and reworked by Caro into 'morse code', the two recordings play back and forth to each other, relaying the words of a World War 1 poem. Set in such contrasting peaceful surroundings, the work serves as an echo to the original 'call and response' which brought troops from New Zealand and other Commonwealth countries as World War 1 took hold, to train on Salisbury Plain, for darker times ahead.
