Fums up lucky charms

Pru told me about these strange little good luck charms that were given to World War One soldiers as good luck charms. They are about 2cm high, made of metal with wooden heads. They have movable arms with thumbs up and wooden heads that were touched for good luck.."touch wood". I found my tums up on ebay and he came with the penny that has a bullet hole through it. They were found in a wallet in an attic. Who knows if the good luck charm worked. It's strange to hold the two objects that have a direct link with WW1, it suddenly makes the past seem very near. I also found the fums up post card, dated 1915. Orginally the little figures were attached to such a card and posted to loved ones at the front.
